Our 4 Days Gorillas and Golden Monkey Safari is a short Uganda primate safari taking to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where you will trek and see the endangered mountain gorillas. Bwindi Forest protects almost half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.

Your Uganda primate journey continues to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park where you will meet the endemic golden monkeys and spend an hour witnessing how they thrive in the bamboo forests of the park.

Detailed Itinerary of 4 Days Gorillas and Golden Monkey Safari

Day 1: Pick up and Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you are warmly welcomed by a personalized Ratel Safaris Representative – your driver-guide, he will brief you about the safari and embark on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It is a journey of approximately 8 to 9 hours with stopovers at the Equator crossing in Kayabwe for pictures and a chance to stand in Northern and Southern Hemispheres and in Mbarara for lunch.

Continue to Bwindi driving through the rolling hills of Kigezi. Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge and spend the rest of evening at rest, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Wake up rise for breakfast and report to the Park Headquarters at 7:45 pm with your packed lunch boxes. Here you will register for the experience and a senior ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of gorillas.

In groups of 8 people, enter into the forest searching for mountain gorillas. The trek take approximately 2 to 4 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night and upon locating the troop, you will spend one precious hour in their presence as watch them play, feed and groom each other.

After the precious hour, you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet your driver-guide and return to your lodge to freshen up and later journey to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park – the only place to track golden monkeys in Uganda. Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking

Today we meet the endemic golden monkeys in the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your driver guide and head to the park headquarters for briefing about golden monkey trekking conducted by a senior ranger guide. Accompanied by ranger guides, head to the starting point and enter into the forest searching for the beautiful and playful golden monkeys, the trek is relatively shorter taking approximately 2 to 4 hours.

Spend one hour with these beautiful primates as you watch them play, feed and groom each other. Do not be surprised when some of them climb your legs. Take as many photos and videos as you wish. Later trek back to the start point, meet your driver-guide and return to your lodge for an evening of rest, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Departure

Enjoy a delicious breakfast, then check out of your lodge and embark on a journey back to Entebbe where you will be dropped off at the airport to catch your flight back home or to your next destination.
