Day 1 Drive from Nairobi to the Sirimon Gate and start trekking to Old Moses Camp for the night
Depart Nairobi in the morning and arrival in Nanyuki Town some 4 hours later.
Proceed to the Sirimon Gate , 2650 metres.
Commence the trek and pass through the forest accompanied by guides, porters and cook.
The walking time today is 4 hours. Continue to the Old Moses Camp, 3,300 metres
and overnight at the Camp. Half board
Day 2 Trek from Old Moses to Shipton’s Camp with overnight
Breakfast at the Camp. Hike through the moorland viewing high altitude flowers , animals and bird species. Continue to the Shipton’s Camp, 4,200 metres. The Camp is situated at the bottom of the main peaks. Walking time today is 6 to 7 hours. Overnight at Shpton’s Camp. Full board
Day 3 Acclimatization Day today with overnight at the Mackinder Camp
Breakfast at Shiptons Camp. This day is spent for acclimatization. You hike to the Hauburg col. 4,600 metres and have lunch en route. Traverse around the peaks to Mackinders Camp, 4,200 meters for overnight.
Day 4 Trek to Point Lenana to Meru Bandas Camp on the Chogoria Route with overnight
Take the early morning tea around 2.30 am and commence climbing along a lose scree. Continue to Lenana Peak, 4,985 metres, the third highest peak on Mount Kenya, this section takes 3 hours. You reach Point Lenana by sunrise.
After superb views from Lenana Peak, descend to the Mintos Camp, after 3 hours for Breakfast. It is on the Eastern side of Mount Kenya. Descend through scenic trail on the Chogoria Route viewing fascinating Gorges Valley, this last leg takes 6 hours to Meru Mount Kenya Bandas Camp, 2,950 metres for dinner and overnight. The total trekking time is about 12 hours today.
Day 5 Trek to Chogoria Village and take your transfer vehicle to Nairobi and are dropped off
Breakfast. Take a 2 hours descent through the rain forest. Connect with your transfer vehicle to Chogoria Village and later, drive back to Nairobi to arrive in the evening and are dropped off. Breakfast and lunch
