Detailed Itinerary of 6 Days Wild Uganda Safari

Day 1: Journey to Kibale Forest National Park

To start your Uganda safari, you will be picked up from your hotel in Kampala or at Entebbe international Airport and by our company representative and journey to Kibale Forest National Park – the primate capital. The journey is about 5-6 hours with stopovers for photography and lunch in Fort Portal.

When you arrive at your lodge, check-in and have sometime resting. Later, go for a guided walk to the Bigodi Wetlands for birding and primates. As sunsets, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Chimpanzees in Kibale Forest

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your driver-guide and head to the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking. A senior ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the forest and in the presence of the chimpanzees, led by ranger guides you will enter into the forest searching for chimpanzees, along the trek you will see other primates including olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys among others.

The trek takes approximately 2 to 4 hours or more depending on the movement of the chimpanzee troop, spend one hour watching the chimpanzee play, feed and groom each other. Take as many photos as possible and later trek back to the starting point, meet your driver guide and return to your lodge for lunch. Check out and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park arriving in the evening, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Morning game drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Head out for an early morning game drive to catch the early risers, the game drive takes about 3 to 4 hours depending on your preference. Be on a lookout for several wildlife species including buffalo, elephants, lions, African wild dogs among others. Return to your lodge for lunch and short rest, later go for a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel where you will see crocodiles, hippos and several bird species. With a short game drive, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi via Ishasha Sector

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha Sector where you will get a chance to see the rare tree climbing lions lounging on tree branches and other wildlife species such as topis, elephants and buffaloes among others.

Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with en-route lunch. Arrive in the afternoon, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Elephants in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Day 5: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Visit

Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters where you will meet other visitors for briefing about mountain gorilla trekking. A senior ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the forest and presence of the gorillas. Led by a senior ranger guide, you will head into the forest searching for mountain gorillas on a trek that takes approximately 2 to 4 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night.

Once located, you will spend one hour with the gorilla troop as you watch them play, feed and groom each other. You are free to take many photos and videos as you want as long as your flashlight is off. When your precious hour is done, trek back to the starting point, meet your driver-guide and return to your lodge to freshen up and short rest. Later in the afternoon you will visit the Batwa Community for a cultural experience. Here you will be entertained by local dances and drama, interact with the village elders among others giving you a deeper insight into their life.

Day 6: Departure

Today is the last day on your Uganda safari, after breakfast, check out of your lodge and embark on a journey back to Kampala where you will be dropped off at the airport for your flight back or to your next destination.
